रथ यात्रा का प्रारंभ और मार्ग
यह रथ यात्रा वीरगंज स्थित गहवा माई मंदिर से शुरू हुई और पूरे नगर में घूमी. श्रद्धालु, जिनमें महिलाएँ और पुरुष दोनों शामिल थे, बड़ी संख्या में इसमें शामिल हुए. यह आयोजन पिछले तीन सालों से किया जा रहा है और इसकी प्रेरणा जगन्नाथ पुरी मंदिर की रथ यात्रा से ली गई है.
भारत-नेपाल आस्था का प्रतीक
गहवा माई मंदिर ट्रस्ट के अनुसार, यह रथ यात्रा भारत-नेपाल सीमा क्षेत्र में धार्मिक आस्था का एक महत्वपूर्ण प्रतीक बन गई है. इस बार भी रक्सौल और आसपास के सीमावर्ती इलाकों से बड़ी संख्या में भक्त पहुंचे थे.
रथ की बनावट
रथ विशेष रूप से सिसम और सखुआ की लकड़ी से बनाया गया है और इसका डिज़ाइन जगन्नाथ पुरी मंदिर के रथ जैसा ही है. श्रद्धालुओं ने रस्सियों से खींचकर इस रथ को पूरे नगर में घुमाया.
सुरक्षा और व्यवस्था
रथ यात्रा के दौरान नगर में सुरक्षा के पुख्ता इंतजाम किए गए थे. हर चौराहे पर सुरक्षाकर्मी तैनात थे. भीषण गर्मी के बावजूद श्रद्धालुओं की सुविधा के लिए जगह-जगह ठंडे पानी की व्यवस्था भी की गई थी. तेज धूप में भी भक्तों का उत्साह देखने लायक था.
धार्मिक और सांस्कृतिक महत्व
इस रथ यात्रा में भक्तों की आस्था, भक्ति और उल्लास का अद्भुत मेल देखने को मिला. यह आयोजन भारत और नेपाल के सांस्कृतिक और धार्मिक संबंधों को और भी मजबूत करता है.

Birgunj, Nepal: A magnificent chariot procession, inspired by the renowned Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra, was held on Friday from the famous Gahawa Mai Temple in Birgunj, Nepal. Thousands of devotees from both Nepal and India participated in this auspicious event.
Procession Route and Inspiration
The Rath Yatra commenced from the Gahawa Mai Temple in Birgunj and proceeded through the entire city. This event has been organized for the past three years, drawing its inspiration from the revered traditions of the Jagannath Puri Temple in India.
A Symbol of India-Nepal Devotion
According to the Gahawa Mai Temple Trust, this chariot procession has become a significant symbol of religious faith in the India-Nepal border region. This year, a large number of devotees from Raxaul and other bordering areas in India also joined the festivities.
The Chariot’s Craftsmanship
The chariot itself was specially constructed from sheesham and sal wood, meticulously designed to resemble the Rath used in the Jagannath Puri Temple. Devotees enthusiastically pulled the chariot through the city using ropes.
Arrangements and Devotee Enthusiasm
Extensive security arrangements were made throughout the city for the duration of the Rath Yatra, with security personnel deployed at every intersection. Despite the intense heat, provisions for cool drinking water were made at various points for the convenience of the devotees. The enthusiasm of the participants was remarkable, showcasing a beautiful blend of faith, devotion, and joy. This event further strengthens the cultural and religious ties between India and Nepal.
