मोतिहारी | कोटवा | पूर्वी चम्पारण के कोटवा में पुलिस अधीक्षक (एसपी) स्वर्ण प्रभात के निर्देश पर छापेमारी कर अवैध रूप से संग्रहित प्रतिबंधित खैर की लकड़ी ज़ब्त की गयी है। एसपी को सूचना मिली थी कि कोटवा गांव के वृति टोला स्थित एक बांसवारी में बड़ी मात्रा में खैर की लकड़ी का अवैध भंडारण किया गया है।
80 से 85 क्विंटल लकड़ी ज़ब्त-
सूचना के आधार पर सदर डीएसपी-2 जितेश पांडेय के नेतृत्व में पुलिस टीम ने कोटवा वृति टोला में छापेमारी की और 80 से 85 क्विंटल खैर की लकड़ी ज़ब्त की। यह लकड़ी अत्यधिक कीमती होती है और इसके खरीद-बिक्री और भंडारण पर प्रतिबंध है। इसे कत्था (पान मसाला में इस्तेमाल होने वाला पदार्थ) बनाने के लिए उपयोग किया जाता है। ज़ब्त लकड़ी की कीमत 8 से 10 लाख रुपये आंकी गई है।
वन विभाग को सौंपी गई लकड़ी-
पुलिस ने ज़ब्त लकड़ी को वन विभाग के रेंजर को सौंप दिया, जो अब आगे की कानूनी कार्रवाई में जुट गया है।
मालिक की पहचान कर दर्ज होगी प्राथमिकी
इस छापेमारी में डीएसपी जितेश पांडेय, कोटवा थाना अध्यक्ष राजरूप राय, एसआई कालीचरण पासवान और पुलिस बल शामिल रहे। थाना अध्यक्ष राजरूप राय ने बताया कि
लकड़ी के मालिक की पहचान की जा रही है और इस मामले में प्राथमिकी दर्ज की जा रही है।

Motihari | Kotwa | Acting on the instructions of Superintendent of Police (SP) Swarn Prabhat, the police raided a location and seized a large quantity of prohibited Khair wood. The SP had received information that Khair wood was being illegally stored in a bamboo grove at Vruti Tola in Kotwa village.
Seizure of 80-85 Quintals of Wood
Based on the tip-off, a police team led by Sadar DSP-2 Jitesh Pandey conducted the raid at Kotwa Vruti Tola and recovered 80 to 85 quintals of Khair wood from the site. Since this type of wood is valuable, its purchase, sale, and storage are prohibited. It is primarily used in the production of catechu (kattha), an important ingredient in betel leaf preparations. The seized wood is estimated to be worth ₹8 to ₹10 lakh.
Handed Over to Forest Department
Following the seizure, the police handed over the confiscated wood to the Forest Department Ranger for further legal proceedings. The forest authorities are now investigating the case.
Investigation Underway to Identify Owner
The raid was carried out by a police team including DSP Jitesh Pandey, Kotwa police station in-charge Rajroop Rai, SI Kalicharan Paswan, and other personnel. According to station in-charge Rajroop Rai, efforts are underway to identify the owner of the seized Khair wood, and a formal complaint (FIR) is being registered.
